“I want to join the Social-Emotional Friendship Club.”
The Challenge

Big reactions to small setbacks, and a hard time putting words to what's wrong.

The Reality

Some children arrive at school already knowing how to join a game. Some don't — and nobody ever quite explains it to them.

Our Approach

Eight weeks of practice in a room where getting it wrong is completely fine.

Come if your child…

Falls apart when something goes wrong, and can't tell you why

Hovers at the edge of the group, wanting in

Can't lose a game without the afternoon ending

Has friends, but they never quite stick

Goes quiet, or goes loud, and neither one helps

Eight weeks, eight things to practise

1

Spotting a feeling before it takes over

2

Coming back down again

3

Taking turns when you really don't want to

4

Walking up to a game that's already started

5

Disagreeing with someone and still being friends afterwards

6

Saying sorry and meaning it

7

Losing

8

Staying in the room anyway

What it looks like on a Monday

1

Cooperative games where one person can't win alone.

2

Stories where somebody gets it badly wrong and has to fix it.

3

Drawing what angry looks like.

4

A team build where two children want different things and have to sort it out themselves — with us close by, not in the middle.
