We asked three of our facilitators what first drew them to this work. Their answers had less in common than we expected — but each one still shows up every Saturday.
"A student who finally clicked"
One facilitator recalls a student who'd struggled with reading for years finally connecting with a story — not because the material changed, but because the approach did.
"My own experience growing up"
Another had their own late diagnosis as a teenager, and wanted to be the adult they wish they'd had earlier.
"The small wins add up"
A third talks about the quieter moments — a child raising their hand for the first time, or asking a friend to play — as the real reason they keep coming back.
